I'm getting ready to order a Galco instructor belt, its about time I get a good gun belt. But what's the difference between reinforced and non-reinforced? Is the reinforced just really really stiff?
I don't know about the Galco belts specifically, but a reinforced belt usually means that there is a Kydex, fiberglass or nylon stiffener sandwiched between the leather layers.
If it's your first belt and your not sure if you like reinforced or not pick up the 5.11 belt from my link above. It's reinforced and ultra cheap at $8 the finish is likely to fail fairly quickly depending on how much you wear it but it's a great belt functionally if you don't care much of how it look after a little while.
Myself I look at those belts like some of my own carry IWB rigs I'm the only one that sees them, I don't wear tucked in shirts often at all. To each his own
