Oh gee "No Guns" signs do not work. This is still a developing story but this is one of malls Grassroots North Carolina and many gun owners asked to remove the GFZ signs but the mall claimed the signs were for the safety of the patrons. Luckily no one was injured by the shooting but in the resulting panic several were injured.

Reports of gunshots in busy mall: chaos, people running

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Reports of gunshots inside a busy North Carolina mall caused chaos Saturday as shoppers ran screaming for the doors or sheltered in stores as dozens of officers converged arrived on the scene, witnesses said.

Raleigh police said they responded to reports that shots were fired inside Crabtree Valley Mall around 2:30 p.m. The mall in an affluent area of Raleigh was then put on lockdown. Helicopters buzzed overhead as numerous law enforcement vehicles swarmed the shopping area.

The latest report that I just read is that they're not really sure it was gunfire, just that someone reported hearing four pops.

AP reports NO SIGN OF LIVE FIRE-non-nill-verboten-nada-not.Someone is reported of hearing 4 pops like gunfire-then everyone responded with total panic. One person sees another running and they start running.Yup-the terrorists and typical criminals have everyone behaving like a troop of cotton tails-busting bunny tails for the doors.Well-at least it was a gun free zone cause no one was shooting, possibly grandpa farted too loud and it was mistaken for rifle fire.

Well since it appears the sheep stampeded over nothing more than a loud noise I will go ahead and close this as nothing more than a panic induced by a fear of loud noises.

Shots fired? Search continues but mall will reopen

Raleigh, N.C. — Crabtree Valley Mall will open as usual on Sunday while police continue their investigation into what sent shoppers stampeding to safety on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Police were called to the mall just after 2:30 p.m. on the report of gunshots, but, after four hours of searching, they found no shooter, no one who had a gunshot wound and no shell casings.

"We have not determined that there was a shooter," said Raleigh Chief of Police Cassandra Deck-Brown. "We're looking at all possibilities. People heard the popping sound. Some thought it was a gunshot, and we have to evaluate all possibilities."
