I field strip mine and clean after range time. Mostly because I like disassembly, inspection, lubing, and I too really like the smell of Hoppes 9 ( my wife has never caught me sniffing it - yet. )

For rifles I'll run bore snake through once or twice ( with Hoppes 9) and call it good.

I cleaned them well before the shooting class a few weeks ago. Haven’t cleaned since. Fired 50+ rounds through each yesterday, no ftf, fte, and every shot on the X (drew in the “X”s afterward, btw).

I shoot-clean-carry. I do not clean-shoot-carry. I'm pretty fanatical about cleaning my guns after each time I shoot them. Plus a good disassembly and cleaning gives me the opportunity to check everything and make sure it's all up to par. I'm not concerned about reassembling my guns incorrectly. I'm no engineer, and I've never done that in 36 years of carrying professionally.
