How often do you shoot you normal carry load as opposed to "range" ammo? I rarely shoot my carry ammunition because of costs, maybe once every couple of months. Is that normal or risky?

once every 6 range outings. so like every 6 weeks. I will run a box and mix it throughout.

As 'factory equiv' reloads shoot to same POI, see no need to use carry stuff, except for the twice a year replacement.

Also, shoot a good amount of factory each year in testing.

That's about what I do but sometimes I will just throw the box of carry loads into my range bag and shoot them up for the hell of it. Before I do though, I have a fresh box in my gun safe.... :arg:

I replace my "good" ammo every once in a while, and when I do I shoot up whatever I just replaced.

I see no reason to practice with the exact ammo so long as I practice with that particular gun. The only difference between my carry ammo and practice ammo is price and bullet design in most cases.

About once a year I shhot my carry ammo and replace it. i do shoot an equivelant sometimes as well as practice ammo.

I'm like Rocky....about once a year I shoot up the carry loads....last year I shot over 17000 rds, 14 of those were in my Beretta 92, the remainder in my Kimber Eclipse....I've got a Ammo Depot close by that sells me the Independence brand .45s for $9 a box and that's after tax (50 count). That's cheapest I've found anywhere, so target rds are just fine for me.
