I wish that Sig would bring back the P245. I would love to buy a two-tone one. However, it has been discontinued and replaced with the P220 Carry. The P220 Carry is cool, but it is not that much smaller than my P220ST.

I know some P245s are still available. However, I am concerned about being able to gets parts/service if the need arises down the road.

I can't imagine that Sig won't have parts for the 245 into the forseeable future. I'm even wondering if the 245 may share some parts in common with the new 220 carry? (Does anyone know if these two pistols share a recoil spring and guide rod in common, for example?)

A 245 is the only Sig I own. (Got it in March). I love the option of using the six round magazine for ease of concealment and also having the eight round extended mag. for superior control or additional capacity when desired. The pistol is completely dependable and it shoots inside two and a half inches from twenty-five yards (when used from a rested postion).

Posts from dealers on the Sig forum seem to indicate that plenty of 245's are waiting NIB around the country. Hope you find what you want.

I love the P245 but I can't justify purchasing one since the compact D/A .45 ACP role has been filled twice over in my collection by a Kahr P45 and Beretta MiniCougar 8045D.

Still, it's a great gun, and echoing PeterC (welcome Peter!!!), I'm sure SIGARMS will have parts for a while and even then, the SIG pistolsmith specialists will be able to keep your gun up and running for while after that.

Suggestions: if you get one or have one, get as many spare mags and springs (especially recoil springs) as you can. Whenever my beloved Beretta kills a gun from the production line, getting mags for them becomes a major challenge....ask any Cougar .45 (like me) or 92 Compact Type M (ditto) owner.

I don't think that will be a problem for quite awhile. SIG has (from what I understand) excellent customer service also.

Thanks for the welcome, srfl!

I'd like to hear from any Sig fans who may be able to answer the compatability question RE parts which MAY be common between the P245 and P220 Carry. I know the slides are different (P245= stamped/welded/P220 Carry= milled SS) but their basic dimensions are the same, viz. a "chopped" P220.

Anyone know if these two pistols share barrel? recoil spring? guide rod?

The P220 Carry has the Full sized Frame (with rail)

The P245 frame has a shorter grip

The P245 uses a shorter barrel and a Different spring than the P220.

I would guess the new P220 Carry model would use the same spring and barrel as the P245.

All the internal parts should be common to all P220 variants.
