HI,

Well, I'm still doing my research for my non-summer carry gun. I'm still debating a 1911 vs Sig220 Compact or HK45C. I had thought about the XD45c, but it reminds me too much of my Glock. I came across this Springfield 4" 1911 with an 11 gear system. Anyone familiar with this 1911? Also, what do they mean by the 11 gear system? Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks. It must be the same junk that comes with the XD line. I would prefer they knock $40 off the price and keep that junk.

My first handgun was a SA Loaded Champ. I had some minimal problems with it that were due to me failing to lube it properly. It's been nothing but reliable since. You'd be making a great decision to go with it.

I own a SA Champ. I had a issue with the slide stop not working , but SA took care of it. Other than lubing the gun and using either SA mags or Wilson I have had no problems .
I love carrying it , as the LW version I own fits me perfectly. Something about 1911's just fit my hand perfect and feels right. I have found the 4" length to work well, long enough to shoot well and fits will IWB.

I always felt the 4" 1911 was the best feeling in my hand. Springfield makes a great gun with an even better warranty. I am a big Sig fan but not very excited by their 1911 line.

If you are serious start searching noe. I was looking for one months ago and Springfield said they were out of stock with no runs planned so I would need to find one at a distributor. I wound up with a Kimber SIS for more money and the minimuim 2 trips back to kimber to feed hollow points properly.

Agreed, the holster that comes with Springfield 1911's pretty much sucks. I find the El Paso Saddlery "High Slide" to be a great OWB holster for 1911's.
