I live about 15/20min from St.Charles- not any "no carry" areas that I'm aware of, just don't cross over into IL! **edit- just realized you are from IL**

Ultimate defense shooting range is right up by St Charles, off highway 70 right at highway 79. Very nice place. Let me know if you need specific directions.

I'll second Ultimate Defense in St. Peters.

Metro Shooting Supplies is 10 minutes down Hwy 70 in Bridgeton; it's a nice store/range, but service is hit or miss.

Ultimate defense for sure. Metro shooting is very nice as well just a bit further down the highway. I have never had a problem with their services, although I have a pretty good relationship with Steve (owner) of the store.

Don't forget, there is also a Bass Pro and a Cabelas in St. Charles as well if you need to kill some time.

Bass pro is in St Chuck, Cabela's is in Hazelwood, across the river from St Chuck.

However, as someone who lives within, lets go with 10 miles, of that mall, I personally never go there unarmed. It's looking way too much like Jamestown Mall did before its near collapse.

Hell, I try not to go north of 44. I just know they are both up there and not too far apart.

I thought there was a Cabela's closer to O'Fallon on I 70 ? In a mall, I've been in there.

Hazelwood ??? You sure, I used to live in Hazelwood before moving south.

Haven't been back in a couple of years and I'm sure everything has changed.

Confirmed. I live in St. Peters and frequent the Cabela's in Mills Mall (Hazelwood) and the Bass Pro in St. Charles. No store in O'Fallon.

I have to be in St Charles next month also. Thanks for the info.

Dont carry if you visit the Gateway Arch, or the museum under it!

I heard (so do not rely on this) that federal park grounds were no longer off-limits to carry, but federal buildings (like the museum) are still off-limits. (They have metal detectors at the museum. They detained my 85 year old grandmother with her walker, because she had a metal knee replacement years ago)

Either way under MO law you can have your carry in your car in a parking lot.

So CWW off limits in hotel.

Huh? MO law specifically mentions hotel rooms in the firearms section, I think it's in the castle doctrine section. Casino's I do believe are still listed as a prohibited place, and the rule about if your found out you can be asked to leave applies. I'll have to go back and re-read them all again to be sure.

Hi again:

Just got back from St Charles and had a great time. I did visit Ultimate Defense and it was a very friendly and very nice and modern shop. I asked if they had any ammo. After the laughter stopped, I moved on. Nice place tho. We stayed at the Embassy Suites which is NOT posted, but the adjoining St Charles Convention Center is a posted facility. Thanks everyone for your advice.

Yeah, its been very dry around here for ammo for quite some time. Any ammo I've found has been during my travels to small towns. Glad you enjoyed Ultimate Defense and the area in general.
