Here are a few tidbits of recent legislative activity happening around the country for your information & viewing pleasure.
Wyoming: A House Committee has recommended a bill to liberalize the states Right-to-Carry law. The measure would essentially allow any non-felon to carry concealed without a permit. If passed & signed into law, Wyoming would join Alaska & Vermont in not requiring any permit for CCW.
Virginia: The state Assembly recently killed a bill requiring criminal background checks on all purchases at gun shows. Current state law already requires FFL's to run checks, but exempts unlicensed collectors & private sellers. Another bill that would let local governments ban guns from libraries was also killed!
Texas: Right-to-Carry program recently celebrated it's 10th anniversery putting to bed the fears & cries of "blood in the streets" which never materialized (as has always been the case).
Florida: State Sen. Durell Peadon has authored a bill that would expand the definition of deadly force providing law-abiding citizens additional legal protection when using a firearm for self defense against an intruder in their home. Currently the law reads that to use lethal force in your home, you must be responding to an immediate threat of death or grave bodily harm. The new bill would essentially make the intruders presence in your home a threat that by definition justifies using deadly force.
Oklahoma: Lawmakers recently provided added support for a state law allowing workers to keep a gun in their locked vehicles at work. Several large companies are challenging the law in court.
