I don't know where I heard or saw recently (and I have zero affiliation with WeThePeople...I've never even held one of their holsters, much less used one) about WTP having an IWB Holster Mount.
This system is designed so that you can unclip your IWB kydex holster from your belt, and snap it into a car mount. Basically a click-off the belt and a click-in the car. Then a reverse when you leave the car.
I honestly think this could be something I'm very interested in (depending on the quality of their holsters in general). I've always struggled with IWB holsters generally but I HATE HATE HATE HATE driving with an IWB holster. I generally hate driving with any holster IWB or OWB. Interferes with the seat belt. Its uncomfortable. It digs into my hip or waist. Awful. To the point where I often don't even carry if I'm going to be in the car.
I also swim regularly, plus my gym doesn't permit firearms in the facility (as if I could swim with one anyway). So the pistol would need to remain in the car most days of the week for me while I'm exercising.
1) I basically refuse to unholster and reholster unless absolutely necessary. To me, this is primo time for a ND. Every time you pull it out and stick it back in... your mind isn't quite paying close enough attention.... you miss that drawstring getting caught in the trigger etc. Get it in the holster and leave it there and don't mess with in/out of holster.
2) While removing the gun, in its holster, from my belt and placing in the car somewhere, I've never liked that if I'm driving it slides around, and that I can't get quick access if I needed to use it, etc.
This kind of system seems like it solves many of my issues. The gun could remain holstered at all times. I am not having issues with it digging into my waist or interfering with the seatbelt in the the car. It would remain secured in a holster while not on-body and not sliding around in a console or similar. And it would be accessible if necessary to use it.
Any experiences with this particular WTP holster and holster mount?
Are there any other companies that offer anything similar that I could compare this to?
I am currently using Kusiak IWB.... it is really great. Leather doesn't irritate and it is incredibly thin and minimalist... but they don't offer something like this car mount. I may just have to bite the bullet and try this WTP system but at least wanted to see if anyone has experience, get some feedback on this type of system, and if any other companies offer something like this?
