The EU's big plan to tighten gun control has hit a major roadblock

This isn't strictly 2A related as it is not pertaining to the US, but it is an interesting article nonetheless. It was also nice to see how closely aligned we (Pro 2A crowd) are with the Swiss.

Swiss gun rights proponents are now complaining this could disarm thousands of law-abiding citizens and that it would encroach on Switzerland's heritage and national identity that includes a well-armed citizenry.

"When conflicts arise, Switzerland must put its sovereignty first," said Blocher,

What a unique concept. A sovereign entity must be self ruled else it isn't sovereign.

Here's how self defense rights negotiations work:

You give up just some of your rights, so I can feel better about being friends with you.
I will give up calling you names.

Thanks. Let's do this again next election.

Is it the Swiss that issue arms along with an inventoried amount of ammo to retired military and require periodic proficiency qualifications as a sort of home guard?

Only members of specific units still have ammunition issued (with periodic inventories) by the government. All other reservists only keep their weapons at home.

One word of advice for Switzerland: Swexit...
One word of advice for Switzerland: Swexit...
They never joined, so no need to Swexit.
Switzerland has always enjoyed firearm ownership. Places like Britain are in a disastrous situation where thugs are having their way.

I wonder how many of the Swiss over the years have said "it couldn't happen here."
In response to the comment by the O.P. of this thread.

The topic is 2nd Amendment related enough that the thread can stay here and remain open. :yup:

The E.U. have their third eye focused right here on the U.S. of A.

Don't think for a minute that they don't.
