I just bought a pair of black anodized aircraft-grade aluminum flashlights by Serengeti at my local Sam's Club tonight. They come with Cree XRE LED lights that put out 160 lumen. Has three settings, 50% power, full power and strobe, operated by a momentary switch on the base. It also has a focus ring that allows floodlight down to spotlight. Shockproof and water resistance. All in all, a great pair of tactical lights. Price? How about $28.88 for the pair! And the best part for me, they run off three AAA batteries, which are supplied. Also comes with a lanyard.

I just had to share. See at http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=417255

Thanks for the review. I have been looking at those at my local Sam's, but have put off buying them. I will have to get back over there this weekend.

I picked up a pair of these at Costco last year for $20. They were marketed as "Tech-Lite". Yea they are bright. The only con is that the battery life is not really that long, but on the good side it uses AAA batteries which are pretty cheap.

If I were to do it again, I would have picked up 10 of them!

One tip - a shortcut to turn it off, hold down the button for a few seconds - it'll go to the high power mode and then when you let go, it'll turn it off.

Not a bad price, for what seems like a decent light.
They seem just like what I'm looking for. Mom and Dad have frequent power outages, and these would be great for the nightstand. You just solved a gift giving dilemma for me, thanks.

for power outages you might want to check out the 10 pack led flashlights at home depot...not a heavy duty flashlight with super blinding brightness but a a decent 9 led lamp that has great battery life and a good practical beam...its what youre looking for for general illumination instead of tactical lighting...we keep em all over the house for the regular florida blackouts...my wife walks the dog with one every night at least once and they tend to go over a month before a battery change is necessary...thats a lot of hours....
