Im not a big Taurus fan but i was wondering if they would bring out a 500 smith and they havent let me down i am thinking on getting a 4" model maybe a 6: cant decide ..

But what brings this up is there bringing out a 2 1/4 inch snubbie Holy cow and you imagine that sure you could shoot 500 Cor-bon Smith Wesson SP

But recoil has got to be unbelievable ..

Since im gonna turn 30 this year i think a new 500 is on the way for my Wish ruger would make one but im not gonna hold my breath

http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?model=500MSS2&category=Revolver

I know im not gonna buy the 2 1/4 Incher

Bud - my wish list currently includes the Smith 460 - which to me is mega versatile as it effectively gives choice for three rounds.

That, if it were made, I'd consider in 4" at very shortest but to be honest - I think potent rounds like the max 460 and the 500 - really do need a lotta weight - and even then they sure are gonna whack a bit!

I discussed the 460 with my dad this weekend to i might be tempted to get on but bigger is better...lol i havnt seen a lot about the 460 though which disappoints me becuse it sounds as you say a great sounding gun ...

I was wishing someone would bring out a 475 also

DAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is one mean pocket rocket. Only a sick freak would get one of those with a 2 1/4" barrel. I hope you get your 500 Bud, but ya a 4" tube is plenty small for a 500.

I'm still trying to come up with a reason why someone would want that in a 2 1/4 barrel. I am guessing a large portion of the powder is going to be blown out the barrel from that big of a cartridge. Thoughts?

Joe - with snub length barrel - the defence potential becomes one of bullet AND cremation!! Close up, of course!

Can we say - ''perforate and cauterize'' LOL.

I'm sure it does. But the gun still weighs in at 68 ounces unloaded, so despite the small barrel, I'm sure it's no pocket gun.

Brings to mind the crocodile dundee quote 'That ain't a gun. Now THIS is a gun.'

How'd they get that thing to weigh 68 oz. when the 4'' smith version only weighs 56 oz?

2.25" barrel, and ported for half of that... Concussion alone would be enough to knock someone down and close range :)

I'd love to have a .500 revolver, but I don't believe I'd want it as a snubby. I'm thinking a 6" barrel, with a full length barrel lug!

I'd try shooting it once. But for a regular shooter, no way.
