"We take a factory-made Marlin 1895 and completely dissemble it. Using precision machined parts, the rifle is converted to a takedown. We cut the barrel, port it to reduce recoil, and recrown it at 16-1/2, 18 or 20 inches in either .45 or .50 caliber.
The front sight is remounted using a fiber optic front bead for high visibility and our original Ghost Ring Sight is installed.
Before reassembling, a reliability tune is performed on the action for feeding, extracting and ejecting.
Our patent pending Trigger Happy Kit is installed for a crisp clean 3 pound trigger pull. The action is modified to allow use of the new .457 Wild West Magnum while still allowing use of standard 45-70 loads, or is set up for the big .50 Alaskan. We install a Pachmayr Decelerator pad to help with recoil and Parkerize the rifle. A 21"x9"x2" soft carry-case is provided with each package."

Yup, I want one. But I would also like a T/C Contender or Encore with a custom cut barrel in several calibers. Shorter carbine barrels in say .308, .30-06, .300 Win Mag, and maybe .223. Good for survival.

that IS the perfect bug-out gun. Price appears to start at $1300 though (with no options). I'm not sure where the price tops out with all the options. Probably $3000-ish.

One can get the almost copy of that in the Marlin Guide Gun. I'd get one in 4570. Thats an interesting caliber. It can be loaded down to hunt deer, and loaded hot enough to shoot very VERY dangerous game.

In fact, there is one company that markets a 4570 load that they claim is stout enough for african big game in suitably strong rifles, such as the marlin,I think, or the ruger no 1 single shot.

All in all, one hell of a survival rifle.

True, but if you want to take on very VERY dangerous game, you ought to consider the same gun in 450 Marlin.

You can load the 45/70 close to 458 win mag loadings if you have a stout enough gun ..

And also if you have a stout enough shoulder to handle it .

Its to bad the 45/70 is so down loaded now Adays it is a Good Caliber
