I am 16/7 carry - with very few exceptions. I designate my carry regime in fact to totally dedicated. All or nothing is me - emphasis on ''ALL''.
This weekend tho I did have a chance to ease off it a bit and it was interesting. Saturday I was at a buddy's place (Ultralight airfield) and was flying several of my RC models - it was pretty hot but I still kept my vest on over the OWB rig and piece. Even went up and flew in an ultralight late pm - piece still on board!
Sunday - that was hotter and so - divested myself of the gear and just enjoyed a t-shirt only - it was way too hot. Over the few hours I was again enjoying flying my planes, it was quite delicious being free of any weight and incumberance!!! Risk factor was of course so close to zero as to not matter!
Bottom line - carry is in some ways a PITA - but I readily accept that (as I have for a long time now) and soon returned to ''normal''. I have come to terms with the slight discomfort factor - it ''goes with the territory'' - but have to say, the rare occasion I have been non-packing - was quite a (rare) pleasure!
I like most am very conscious of the ''no piece on board'' syndrome - it is odd but again have to say - how nice it was to be free of the burden. It doesn't happen often and I am well aware as to why I make carry such a discipline normally.
