It's very unfortunate that people have lost their jobs due to the COVID thing. But every now and then, there is a silver lining. Some of the most left wing online "rags" have been hit particularly hard, including Vox, Vice, Buzzfeed and Conde Nast. They are all laying off their liberal journalists like crazy.

But here is the ironic thing. The CEO of Vice is not blaming COVID. She is not blaming Trump! She is blaming Big Tech, including Google and Facebook for hogging on the ad revenues on their platforms. She says they are a "Great threat to journalism." Like she has any idea about journalism.

The newspapers and online junk are aiming for Covid bailouts, like they weren’t dead anyway.

Just like bankrupt, mismanaged state governments.

I remember when NPR still had some honesty. It took a sharp turn away from the telling some truths and partial truths to outright socialism about 10 years ago. I had to quit listening to the CNN of the radio waves.

I too agree that $1 dollar of government donated money is far too much for any of the stations. Mostly because it should be a self sustaining enterprise.

I'm not at all into schadenfreude.

(Okay, maybe just this once.)

I disagree........because they do a valuable public service.
Yes they used to. However for the past 60 years, many of them have given up unbiased reporting in favor of a rabid agenda coming from the left. That's not unbiased journalism; that's nothing more than garbage. And virtually none of them are immune from this behavior.

5% or 50% it is still tax money.
I wasn’t aware you needed tax funding to be of service to your public.
Some of the documentaries they do which are not political are good
But all their politics is one sided. Should not be if you are taking a single dollar in tax funding
