What she fails to understand, of course: felons will get their weapons elsewhere; and jumping on the heads of upstanding people won't stop felons who aren't using background checks. Underground, off-radar supply channels are a wonderful thing for felons who seek to avoid the finger-waggling congressmen who don't distinguish between upstanding citizens and felons.
NY reps in particular give me a headache which is compounded when I bang my head on my desk. Best new law needed. ALL statistics must be researched and validated before they come out of someones mouth,
This is why we need to be more open with folks that do not own guns but are not necessarily anti. The facts do not matter to Rep Maloney, or the liberals for that matter. She goes to the news media and papers to spread this misinformation and scare the previously mentioned folks because they do not know better. It's a long game now where the liberals want to create a caricature of guns and gun owners so they can demonize and marginalize us. It is all they know, but sadly, it has a track record of success.
What I love is that none of these morons are ever admitting to the fact that if the FBI and other alphabet agencies were actually allowed to do their jobs and follow up on intelligence and profile for terrorists then Tamerlan(?) would not have been free to do anything in this country to begin with.
She may be ignorant, or she may be willfully misrepresenting the facts. Most that question her intelligence assume the former. We should not overlook the latter, because if we do, we underestimate her conviction to her cause.
Don't assume opponents of the second amendment that make foolish arguments lack intelligence or are indeed ignorant. Lies are useful tools in swaying public opinion.
Tamerlan was a US Citizen by the time he committed the bombings in Boston and so were Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols (Oklahoma City), Ted Kaczynski (Unabomber), Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook), James Eagan Holmes (Aurora), Jared Loughner (Tucson), Seung-Hui Cho (Virginia Tech), Eric Harris and Dylan Kebold (Columbine), Charles Joseph Whitman (UT Austin), and George Hennard (Luby's Massacre in Texas), and Nidal Malik Hasan (Fort Hood). Therefore, it's ridiculous to punish millions of law abiding citizens for the actions of a few nutcases. I just simply don't understand how politicians don't get that the problem with massacres/bombings in the US is not because of firearms, but rather an issue of law enforcement agencies and the FBI not being able to detect and stop these crazy men in due time before they commit their atrocities. Also, there is an evident lack of proper psychiatric care to prevent many more of these wackos from being created.
