As it should be, recognizing the undue denial of the right to carry that otherwise exists when vehicle storage/carry is held as grounds for criminal charges or termination.

Congrats, TN citizens. :congrats:

Good job TN. That may be where I retire some day. I want to live in the mountains. Georgia and Tennessee are on my short list.

Now if TN would just do something about restaurants and "no gun" signs. Signs carry legal weight in TN, wish it were like FL's law where they do not.

The "law" is a joke. It ONLY stops criminal prosecution under certain sections of the law.

Despite what Lt. Govenor Ron Ramsey has claimed, the soon to be law does not remove all risk of criminal prosecution. There are at least two statutes (TCA 39-17-1314 and the criminal trespass statute and possibly others) where criminal prosecution still is available. In addition, if prosecution arises, your weapon(s) will be subject to mandatory forfeiture (TCA 39-17-1359). In addition those who are not the "owner" of the car, could be criminally prosecuted. So if the car is registered to your wife, father, mother, brother, neighbor...whomever...better leave your gun at home and travel unprotected!

"ZERO" protection from your employer! It was clearly stated by the sponsors of the bill, If "No Firearms" is part of the workplace policy they can terminate you for cause. Guess what that means. NO unemployment will be paid and "I" believe you are ineligible for COBRA as well.
Under Public Chapter 1046 passed in 2012 that if you did sue and you lost (which is practically certain under Tennessee's employment at will doctrine) that the trial court shall award to the employer up to $10,000 in court costs, deposition costs, attorney's fees and other expenses.

What a great law...we went from a misdemeanor arrest and max fine of $500.00 with the loss of your $45K /year job plus full benefits to, are you ready...maybe, just maybe, no misdemeanor and/or max $500.00 fine.
If you are terminated and take legal action trying to use the new "LAW" and do not win your case (I have been in management in this state for over 20 years and never seen the "work at will" clause reversed) you also get to give your old boss 10 grand...WHAT A GREAT DEAL, WE HAVE MADE PROGRESS IN TENNESSEE GUN RIGHTS!!!

About the only thing this bill does positively is to provide a voting record of those legislators who have willfully made a choice on the 2nd Amendment that puts the jobs of Tennessee's handgun permit holders at risk.
Once again, evidence that the Establishment Republicans in Tennessee are destroying your constitutional rights!

A pure slap in the face from people I voted for and contributed to their campaigns with a flare of arrogance not often seen!
