ok i have utah, florida and kalifornia ccw permits. i know i can carry all the way to the nevada border on my way to vegas for some party action. will i be in violation of the law if i continue driving while packing to my final destination then lock my firearms up in the safe in my hotle room. i dont want to carry when i am gambling and drinking since that would be illegal. my question is can i drive the 100 miles or so from the cal/nevada border to my hotel without having to unload and lock them up or do i need to pull over and lock them up. can i carry open in nevada wihile driving on the freeway? also does it make sence to even get a nevada ccw permit since when in vegas i would most likely be intoxicated and be illegal for carry anyways.

Good sites mentioned already. The packing.org site has a page on Nevada here: http://www.packing.org/state/nevada/

I'm driving there in March for a couple of days and will have to pass through Boulder City, NV (mentioned below).

Here's some information from the packing.org site:

Nevada State Law is silent on motor vehicle carriage of firearms. Any law-abiding citizen may carry a handgun, loaded or unloaded, in their vehicle.

Some cities like North Las Vegas and Boulder City have "Deadly Weapon" laws, and you may be cited or arrested if you pass through their jurisdictions with a gun in the vehicle.

Boulder City

7-1-3: Discharging Firearms, Air Guns:
No person except a sheriff, constable or police officer shall fire or discharge any firearms or air guns of any description within one thousand (1,000) yards of any building, street, sidewalk, alley, highway or other public place or have any firearms or air gun in his possession within one thousand (1,000) yards of any building, street, sidewalk, alley, highway or public place unless it is unloaded and knocked down or enclosed within a carrying case; provided, that this Section shall not prevent the maintenance and use of duly supervised rifle or pistol ranges or shooting galleries authorized by the City Council. This Section shall not prohibit the stocking of firearms by duly authorized dealers in the same.

North Las Vegas

9.32.080 Deadly weapon prohibited in vehicle--Exceptions.
It is unlawful for any person to have in his possession in any automobile, truck, motorcycle, or any other type of vehicle any dangerous or deadly weapon, but this restriction shall not be deemed to prohibit the carrying of ordinary tools or equipment carried in good faith for uses of honest work, trade or business, or for the purpose of legitimate sport or recreation.
Packing.org has a list of Nevada links that may help too. Good luck.

Nevada is an open carry state and in Nevada your car is considered to be an extension of your home. So yes, you can carry it in your car. (The exceptions being Boulder City and North Las Vegas.)

However, once you place it in a bag or anything else, that is considered to be a concealed weapon, and the laws apply there. (No, you can't, loaded that is.) My recommendation is to unload it prior to arriving at your destination then placing it in your bag for transport into the hotel.

And when you come to town I expect to know when so that I can meet face to face. I work security at The Las Vegas Hilton 3PM till 11PM with Wed and Thur off. Come say hello. Just ask to see Bob Ford with security.

Have a safe trip.
