MAYODAN, N.C. — Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. announced Monday it plans to open a manufacturing plant in Mayodan.

The 220,000-square-foot facility will be the company’s third manufacturing plant across the country and its first major expansion in more than 25 years.

The new plant is expected to be complete in August.

It was not clear exactly how many workers Ruger plans to hire, but it employs more than 2,000 among its other two plants in New Hampshire and Arizona.

Graham Pervier, President of Economic Development and Tourism for the Rockingham County Partnership, told FOX8′s Carter Coyle in June that the company could invest $30 million and create 500 jobs over the next four to five years.

“They’ll probably officially announce maybe 325 jobs, but we fully expect this could be more than 500 jobs after 5 years,” Pervier said.

Pervier did not say how much the state, county or town would invest to attract Ruger.

The company took part in a job fair in Madison on June 19 to scope out the potential workforce in the area.

I read an article weeks ago about Ruger looking for additional manufacturing facilities. One reason being that they have plans to introduce new products and don't have the space or manpower to manufacture them yet.

All in all good news because it means more Rugers!

Gun Maker Flight from the states that make it hard on them.

Kudo's to the management for not putting up with those anti-gun mentalities that prevail up North.

Some states would rather promote their STATIST agenda, than keep jobs in their state..... This way they can all work for the state directly or they can go on welfare.. either way it's big government who supplies all the goods and services they need.
