From your description it sounds like you want a SOB (small of the back) holster.

I had a Galco SOB for my S&W 469 before I got rid of it. Galco may have made them for your model at some time, but it's not listed on their sight right now. You might luck out and find something on ebay or you could post a WTB on the S&W forum and see if you find someone with one.

Several makers make that design of SOB holster, one of them may make them for your Smith...
