Since I do not anticipate having to repel Mongol hordes my EDC is rather simple.

1911 with one or maybe two spare magazines.
Small assisted opening knife (used more often as a letter opener).
Cell phone.

Although I am rarely out much after dark I do keep a flashlight or two in the truck.

Break into my house and you will be surprised at what I have available.
