Which one?

Well I went shooting today to try out some more weapons. Below are what new guns I shot today

Sig 239- comfortable, nice trigger, I didn't like the grip. I'm also not looking for a DA/SA.

Walther PPQ- didn't like the mag release in the trigger guard and it had more recoil. Bigger than I want for a CCW.

Beretta PX4sc- hated the mag. It was so stiff it made loaded a pain in the ass. Gun shot well but not looking for a DA/SA gun or one with a manual safety

I had previously shot a Glock 26/27, M&P 9c/40c, Ruger SR9c, Springfield XD9c/40c. I posted my thoughts on those in a previous post.

So I have narrowed it down to the M&P9c and the Glock 26. They are really neck and neck. It's going to be a tough choice. I shot both almost identical. Both felt comfortable. I think the M&P has the slight edge with both the slide release and mag release being ambidextrous, since I'm left handed. Other than that they are equal.

I asked the gun store about prices, M&Pc $499 and the Glock 26 gen4 $539. Are those good prices in todays market? And any advice as to why I should pick one over the other? Please don't just tell me which one to pick unless you have a reason why over the other. Like I said they are neck and neck so I am really looking for people who have shot both and then decided on one or the other.

Also what does each one come with? It looks like the M&P comes with a case and two mags, one pinky extended and one flat, and three back straps. And it looks like the glock comes with two mags, three back straps, cleaning kit, although I have read the gen 4 comes with 3 mags. But I didn't see anything on their website.

Thanks for all your help.

M&P's just feel so much more comfortable to me. Neither one is really "better" than the other, some prefer the Glock's trigger, some prefer the ergonomics of the M&P, they're both great choices. Good luck on making the decision. :)

He's left handed. Shield not a great choice. :(

Have you considered the Glock 19 at all? I don't think it's much bigger than the M&Pc and a little smaller than a couple of the other guns you were considering.

+1 to this. And todays market Id say those are pretty decent prices for those 2 pistols. Ive got the m&p I just like the way it feels in the hand and I like the lines of the gun It actually looks good instead of blocky looking. Light small conceals and shoots good.

Yes to question, are they priced OK.

I am a S&W fan. Glocks are alright.
M&Pc is going to give you slightly more room for a grip.
You could choose the Glock and use G19 mags.
You can also choose the M&P and use FS mags in it as well.
Your call, whichever "felt" better to YOU!
Have you looked at the Xds 45? I use to CC a G27. Only thing the G27 has on the Xds is round count. Reason why the Xds is my cc weapon. But On your list I would either get the Glock or M&P. I like Glock trigger build better except the M&P feels better.
Do you need to make this purchase soon or can you hold out a while. The reason I ask is the M&P's trigger is supposed to get a makeover soon to feel more like the Shield which is a big improvement over the other M&P's .If you need to make the purchase soon I would go with the glock 26. I have one I love it but may be soon getting rid of it because I have the shield also which is kind of like 2 guns for the same purpose IMO. The Glock has tremendous support for accessories, they are typically readily available at any gun store. Also with the glock you can use 10,15,17 or 30 round magazines in it from the other glock models in 9mm. Im not sure if the mags are interchangable in the M&P line. the glock 26 is a proven platform its just a little thick for some peoples liking.

Never know when the M&p are getting a new trigger. But you can put an Apex trigger on it.

If it is a Generation 4 Glock 26, the magazine release can be changed for a left handed or right handed person. The owners manual shows you how to do it as well. I switched my Glock 17 Generation 4 for my son in about 5 minutes. I bought a Generation 4 Glock 27 last weekend and it came with three 9 round magazines and two changeable backstraps.

I would pick whichever pistol felt the best in my hand, as both are excellent choices. I personally like the feel of the sub compact Glocks in my hand and shoot them well, but will admit the M&P's do feel better overall(except the trigger). I am learning to shoot my M&P Shield better. The thin grip is hard to get used to after shooting Glocks and full size Berretas for years.
Although my previous EDC weapon was a M&P9c, I now carry a Px4 Compact (and love it). I had nothing but trouble with my S&W so between the two you've listed, I'd go with the G26!
YES, lol im not sure why I forgot that, I actually just put my apex in. although that is also an extra $100-150

My department issues the PX4 FS in 40 S&W. I personally liked our Beretta 96's and Sig P229's better but the PX4 is a darn good pistol and is noticeably lighter when carrying it all day. We use the "G" model which is single/double action, has a decocker and does not have a manual safety.

I some what agree with this but I Hated the way glocks felt in my hand until I actually fired it. Once I fired the glock I really liked the way it handled. I Loved the way the Kahr Pm9 felt in my hand but I hated the gun when I finally got to shoot it after I bought it. I think people should really try their best to fire the gun they are interested in. It sucks when you cant shoot a gun until you buy it then you find you hate it.

For carry I like the Glocks and $539 for a gen 4 today is a good price. Make sure to shoot one some people don't like the feel of the Glock.
if i were you i would join the glock club!i got my first handgun the day after i turned 21 last december and i bought a new glock 23 and 2 months later purchased a glock 21. got bit by the glock bug. next will get the 19, 27 and eventually the 22 and 17
I personally do not shoot Glocks well. I shoot the S&W much better. For me, the ergonomics of the grip and the trigger feel add up to a pistol that I enjoy shooting much more. But that said, I can't bring myself to purchase one; I am one of those guys that likes a great story to back up the weapon. The S&W M&P really doesn't have one that is even mildly inspiring. I know that is probably not a factor for many people, but I'm admiring it.

Gaston Glock designed a platform that changed the industry. That hasn't happened many times in history. I'll give him all the credit. He designed a highly reliable, well-made, and affordable pistol that affords the owner a platform that could be no more versatile (look how many models are available). He designed a model that S&W set out to "copy"...to a degree. All that makes me feel great about owning a Glock. It really is a mechanical piece of art. A terribly ugly piece of art with horrible ergonomics, disappointing fit and finish, and a creepy plastic trigger. But it is what it is! A great pistol that goes bang with an authority that inspires confidence.

What does this boil down to. I like the way the S&W feels and shoots. I like the wide range of sizes of the Glock and the heritage that is Glock.

Because of that, if I had to chose one of those two, I'd choose the Glock and them have a custom shop give it the feel of the S&W.

Get the Glock and don't look back. At least they don't have lawyers locks on them yet...
I agree with many of you. The M&P feels better in your hand but the Glock shoots so well. Accuracy is almost identical. The Glock I actually shot a bit off center but my grouping was good, for someone who hasn't shot in a long while. The M&P grouping was equally as good. The M&P is just slightly larger especially in the grip which is why I think it felt better. I don't care about the looks of the gun. I didn't really spend much time looking at the gun. The only gun I even noticed the looks of was the PX4 since it is so different.

Like I said very close call. I guess since both guns felt so good I can't go wrong with either one. I guess it's a matter of whether I am willing to pay the extra $40 for the Glock or save that $40 and get the M&P. Ugh, I will have to sleep on it.
