Going to try for mine next week. Curious to know how many have succeeded and how many have been denied.

I am a little anxious given that NV does not honor all that many other states permits.

Getting a NV non-resident permit is a pretty straight forward process. You need to attend an 8-hour training and qualification course conducted by a trainer approved by the local County Sheriff's Office. Washoe County publishes a list of approved trainers on their web site (other counties probably do too). Then you need to apply at the Sheriff's Office with your certificate from the course. All this means a trip to Nevada for the training and applying for the permit. NV is a shall-issue state for both resident and non-resident permits, so approval should not be a problem.

The non-resident permit is now good for 5 years and, when it is time to renew, you'll need to go back for a 4-hour renewal class and qualification. I just applied for my renewal and they told me it is taking about 60 days for both renewals and initial applications through Washoe County.

The training and qualification shoot are both pretty basic and, if you have a problem passing either, you probably shouldn't be carrying a gun anyway
