So the other night my wife and I were out for an event in a very unfriendly CCW environment. Some of you will probably say you wouldn't have gone if they didn't support CCW, but I believe you would have. However, I cannot back up that claim without revealing the location. So I'll have to let your claims go unanswered.
Anyway, I was quite well armed. I had a S&W 6906 BUG in the left front pocket of black dress jeans, covered by an untucked button-down khaki shirt. The event was attended by a couple hundred people, all milling around, sometimes sitting, etc. Everything was fine so far. I drew no attention to myself, got our business done, and prepared to leave.
Still in the middle of a couple hundred people, my wife puts her hand on the gun in my front pocket, actually touching it quite firmly, and says to me in a not-very-quiet voice, "What's this?" :aargh4:
I simultaneously tried to refrain from passing a brick, brushed her hand away, and said quietly but sternly, "Don't worry about it." I then turned and started walking as a way to get her hand clear away from my gun, so she wouldn't grab for it again, all while trying not to look suspicious.
She followed, and said, "How'd you get that hole in your shirt???" :embarassed:
Me: "Oh, that. The shirt's just getting old. Are you about ready to go?"
It was a tiny hole... located directly above the gun in my pocket... she put her finger on the hole...
She never realized she touched a gun. Ha, guess she thought that steel was just my hard bod. :hand5:
No, I don't have the luxury of sharing my carry details with my wife. She knows I carry, but she isn't interested in where or how many. It would only cause more arguments. She is quite content knowing I carry as long as she doesn't see a gun in public.
She has no idea I almost passed a brick in front of 200 people.
Dang, I like this shirt, but it may have to go.
