So the other night my wife and I were out for an event in a very unfriendly CCW environment. Some of you will probably say you wouldn't have gone if they didn't support CCW, but I believe you would have. However, I cannot back up that claim without revealing the location. So I'll have to let your claims go unanswered.

Anyway, I was quite well armed. I had a S&W 6906 BUG in the left front pocket of black dress jeans, covered by an untucked button-down khaki shirt. The event was attended by a couple hundred people, all milling around, sometimes sitting, etc. Everything was fine so far. I drew no attention to myself, got our business done, and prepared to leave.

Still in the middle of a couple hundred people, my wife puts her hand on the gun in my front pocket, actually touching it quite firmly, and says to me in a not-very-quiet voice, "What's this?" :aargh4:

I simultaneously tried to refrain from passing a brick, brushed her hand away, and said quietly but sternly, "Don't worry about it." I then turned and started walking as a way to get her hand clear away from my gun, so she wouldn't grab for it again, all while trying not to look suspicious.

She followed, and said, "How'd you get that hole in your shirt???" :embarassed:

Me: "Oh, that. The shirt's just getting old. Are you about ready to go?"

It was a tiny hole... located directly above the gun in my pocket... she put her finger on the hole...

She never realized she touched a gun. Ha, guess she thought that steel was just my hard bod. :hand5:

No, I don't have the luxury of sharing my carry details with my wife. She knows I carry, but she isn't interested in where or how many. It would only cause more arguments. She is quite content knowing I carry as long as she doesn't see a gun in public.

She has no idea I almost passed a brick in front of 200 people.

Dang, I like this shirt, but it may have to go.

:haha: Good story. Glad to hear no bricks were passed in the making of this event. "You gotta do what you gotta do." But hey, I guess that means your piece will more than likely never be found out by a casual touch - if your wife can firmly touch you and not know about it.
In other news, I just avoided a "blatant" innuendo.

"It might be a gun, or I may just be happy to see you."

That ought to stop the conversation.

I am blessed my wife is totally on line with my CC and in fact took her CHL class before me. We both carry the same firearm, ammo, mags, and situational awareness. We have a code word between us so that if one sense trouble that word is spoken and we both go high alert. We back each other up on parking lots, stop and robs, and where ever we go. At home nether of us is every very far from our firearms and are usually carrying. Knowing each others strengths and weakness we cover for each other. There was a time when I thought I had to protect her now we protect each other. LIFE IS GOOD

Grady, good story. I'm glad it was only a hole in your shirt and that no bricks were harmed in the making of the story. A happy ending had by all.

However, since your wife does know you carry and tolerates it as long as she doesn't have to see it kind of thing.... I think it would be a good idea to let her know what you thought was happening just to make sure that in the future, if she does spot your carry gun or grabs it while she is feeling you up that she does not out you in public.

I understand this was totally innocent on her part as she was referring to the hole in your shirt. However you thought she was pulling the biggest of all "party fouls" and wasn't sure what was going on at first.

I would get it clear in her mind that if she happens to identify your "bulge" in the future that she just politely keeps it to herself and understands the hazards of outing you in public.

Just a suggestion, nothing more. I'm glad it all turned out ok.

My better half does not like guns, period. We had to come to an agreement of sorts which ended up being "don't ask, don't tell." She doesn't give me crap about it, and I wear it concealed.

It's not ideal, but our security isn't compromised and there is peace under this roof.

Grady, you may just have to have one of those 'come to Jesus meetings' with the little lady when it comes to CCW. Her not being a bit more careful with her comments could put you both at a disadvantage.
It sounds as though this event worked out OK.

Grady, it seems in this story you had two guns, so you were only "well armed"; "quite well armed" is the appropriate phrase for concealing TEN guns while walking around in a Las Vegas casino undetected.

I would have whispered in her ear, that while you were quite flattered that she was interested in your bulge, she would have to keep her hands to herself and wait until you are alone, at home.:image035:

Sounds horrifying... But I am so glad I don't have to worry about that. My wife is trying to get her CHP class done, and has been my "can you see it?" helper ever since we were dating. She does give me the oddest looks anytime she notices I have on more than one, though (she's getting used to that finally, and only makes a comment when it's more than two now).

Good luck working out that little friction point with the Mrs.!

Oxymoron.

Black jeans are considered dressy only if you're a member of a motorcycle gang.
