Winchester 9mm LUGER 115 gr. FMJ.

This is the only 9mm the local walmart has in stock, and so I was wondering if anyone would recommend it for target practice? If not, why?

(Using it in my XD9sc)

Thanks in advance.

If your local Wally World has it then by all means get it! I would rather have the WWB 100ct than the Federals 50ct boxes.......I can fit more of them in my ammo cans! It's fine....I use it a lot at the range, and for competition.

Cant think of any reason not to. Trigger time is good no matter what rounds you're using to get it. :hand10:

I use it all the time in all my 9's and it is first rate range fodder. My 9mm AR loves the FMJ and you can't get any cheaper than 9mm FMJ at Walmart.

Thanks guys. I'm not an expert by any means on ammunition so I just want to make sure it's not prone to failure or damage or malfunctions...

basically just making sure.. i bought 3 boxes and i'd hate to have to return it..lol... time to see if i can get some more...

3 boxes eh! Yeah, it's real bad stuff, makes your gun all dirty and what not. Tell you what, just send it all to me and I promise to properly dispose of it for you!

Good range ammo to be sure. Wish I'd hit one of our Wal-Marts when they have some in! They have really been skimpy on handgun ammo.

For Information purposes, once you buy ammunition and leave the store, they will not take it back, even if it looks like it wasn't opened.

My Wal-Mart carries every caliber devised by man except 9mm. It's great, it's like a museum. Mountains of stuff that was used to kill Zulu warriors, but the world's most popular caliber is always out of stock.

I have never had a problem with WWB. The truth is it is not that much inferior to HP personal defense rounds. I sure would not want to be hit by 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or more FMJ 115gr. WWBs. Point is it is low cost per round and you can shot it and that is important in the day we live in. All that said when I carry a 9mm I load it with a good HP rounds. Check out the link below as to 9mm performance.

I've shot up a lot of WWB 9mm 115gr FMJ in practice. Good stuff. I get mine at Wally World too. Never had a problem with it.

No manufacturer is going to produce and sell ammunition that is "prone to failure or damage or malfunctions..."

Well I've heard certain pistols seem to dislike certain ammuntions... (I believe I've read that several places on here and other sites.) I figured it couldn't hurt to ask and get some feedback.

Swung by Walmart again and they had another 100 round box. The lady said they get shipments daily, but they get what they get, so it's a surprise every time. Thanks again everyone.

Well, that failure is usually a JHP round that the pistol does not want to feed properly. The other failure is an undercharged load. Sometimes a load will have an insufficient powder charge so that it would not have enough "oomph" to cycle the slide properly and eject. That could happen with any ammo. FMJ or JHP. Most of the time though, I'd say close to 99% any factory fresh FMJ ammo (not reloads) will always work as intended.

I'm sure there's other possible failures but these are the ones I've experienced thus far.

WWB goes bang in my gun every time, although it is a Glock 19...

Great practice ammo, and I'm sure it would be a better SD bullet than nothin'

Both daughters have Taurus 27 pro's. One is standard the other a compact and both guns eat up the WW white box. It does seem to be full power compared to .40 and .45 in the FMJ white box line up.

That's the pistol's problem, not the ammo's.
