She's cherry picking numbers, and really when you consider that Florida has more than a million permit holders, 1400 permit holders deemed criminals is a pretty low number. Lower than the national averages.
Let her watch the video of the woman getting beaten in the home invasion or the scumbag who got shot trying to rob others in line for shoes and ask her if she thinks a gun would be handy in those circumstances.
Two generic lines that don't cover all the bases are as follows. "The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is good guy with a gun." and Fill in the blank scenario..."Would you really feel better if the BG is the only one with a gun in the room?"
CC folks have been responsible for 494 gun deaths in 6 years. That is out of the around 30,000 gun deaths per year. Wow, those CC folks are just on a rampage. The other thing they don't address is how many of those deaths were justifiable. From what I could see about 1/3rd involved any type of charges. So not really the HUGE issue they tried to paint it as.
Wow. Actually, reading that with any considerate amount of reading comprehension would tell you that the writer is a crack pot and should not be taken seriously.
Two hundred and sixteen had outstanding warrants, domestic violence injunctions and were registered sex offenders. Why are the listed with the concealed carriers? They may have been carrying a weapon, and carrying it concealed, but they were not doing so legally and were not law abiding citizens to begin with. Why are they considered the same as a law-abiding citizen carrying a weapon on a valid and legal permit?
And by the way, if you're going to pick stats, include some reference points. Over what period of time did those 1400 people plead to a charge?
And she's correct, the guy that shot Gifford was a legal concealed carrier because Arizona doesn't require a permit. So why single him out? Anyone willing to commit murder, to take the life of another needlessly, doesn't need a permit to find a gun to do the deed.
Crap writing, loaded language, non-quantified statistics, and a bias towards sensationlism make this a junk read.
