Don't bother to say, "Don't get your hopes built up" - it's too late for that.

Anyway, I heard on the news last night that our Governor is expected to sign a bill to allow police trained teachers to carry on campus. Only LE and the teacher will know.

The intent seems to be to better protect students from a shooting like Sandy Hook.

I'm a teacher, community college, and I would gladly take the 40 hour police training. Maybe they can teach me to shoot better while they're at it. :image035:

I'm going to look into this tomorrow. It just sounds too good to be true, but....

Congratulations on having politicians that get it.

I would love to see more states allow this. The saying goes, I think... you'll never know when you need it. Something like that. Could be another Sandy Hook incident or could be a jealous ex-husband with a knife.
Sounds like a good plan , good luck with this.
I think you'll be a great candidate for this. Good luck.
Excellent news. I think as more states allow this, we will oneday in the future see where this will be effective in stopping a school shooter. God Bless
Now if only Michigan could think like this.

MI did think like this, the legislature passed it, and your RINO Gov vetoed it.:hand1:
Good luck Tangle...I hope it works out for ya'...:yup::hand9:
Maybe Texas will learn from you.
Very cool! I expect this idea to catch on in other states as well.
It would be great if you could do that. :yup: That is the best common sense way to protect teachers and students from soulless, murderous, nut-jobs.

And as a huge plus the Police could learn quite a bit from you in 40 hours. :yup:

It is a start...

I will never be a registered, certified staff member that "only LE know about". That never seems to last very long. I will carry when it is nobody's business who is carrying, and both BG's and GG's need to assume every adult is armed.

...but it is a start.
Tangle, I don't think you will be lacking in the shooting department, at least as to hitting where you aim.
Good for Tennessee....... :35:
Yes! Good for Tennessee! That is good news.
There seems to be some confusion, not surprising, about who will be allowed to carry guns at school. Some reports say ex-po0lice officers, others say teachers with police training. And there are other reports that say other things.

The news report I watched stated, teachers with 40 hours of police training, etc.

Some reports say that the local school boards, etc. would have the final say; some say the school would have the final say in who or if anyone can carry a gun on campus.
That is great! I personally think that CCers should be allowed to carry in schools. We have made too many places kill zones for wackoos.

Remember at Sandy Hook, what stooped the perp was that LEOs were there and going to shoot him.
