I grew up and lived in rural Ohio (go Bengals, boo Steelers lol) until I was 24. I moved to Denver and had a total culture shock. I lived in an apartment for the first time and out of habit would get up and look out the window every time I heard a car pull in the parking lot. It took awhile to break that habit and now I am much more used to living in the city, as suburban as Virginia Beach is. 16 years ago I was alert at the sound of a car door closing, today I don't react to distant gunfire.Living in a rural area, I hear bumps in the night outside all the time (and so does my dog). It gets to be a pain in the ass to check them all out but eventually that one I don't check out could just be the real deal..
All lights are turned on, dogs are let out and I go out with them.. so far it's all been nothing.
I'm the exact opposite. I grew up in the city (Pittsburgh, boo Bengals) and moved to SC some years ago. Now a car door closing, noises outside, etc. is the unusual for me.I grew up and lived in rural Ohio (go Bengals, boo Steelers lol) until I was 24. I moved to Denver and had a total culture shock. I relate so much to this, I grew up in very rural Alabama, like banjos and cousin love kinda Alabama Roll Tide! anyways, When I was 20 I was offered a job I couldn't refuse and moved to Memphis, I moved specifically to North Memphis/Frayser area (google it) wow culture shock to the Nth power. just wow. I still get made fun of now that I've moved to the suburbs by my hotty totty high society neighbors. They call me Nugent LOL most of em don't even know my real name, whatever I'm rambling god blessI grew up and lived in rural Ohio (go Bengals, boo Steelers lol) until I was 24. I've yanked multiple out of a friends garage. They aren't a terrifying beast, just got to be quick. That and don't mess with one out during the day or one that isn't backing down when confronted, they do carry rabies fairly often. If it were a raccoon you should stay away or shoot the sucker, they will tear you another b*** hole. LOL, you can never be overly cautious.
Go Commando. Problem solved. Or Depends. Problem solved. When I lived in an apartment I would always take my trash to the cans late at night (I work nights so that's when I'm awake) raccoons are my arch nemisis, my hatred is almost genocidal towards them, ruined many a pair of lucky under shorts cause of em.
