G27 & G33: Actual differences?

I have searched all over this site and the rest of the web but cannot find the answers to what I’m wanting to know. If there is another thread discussing this I apologize; please reply with a link to it.

What I want to know is what are the actual differences between the two guns, in gen 4, other than the barrels? Also are there any differences in the magazines?

I couldn’t find the mag info in glock’s website. I have read that they used different followers, then the same, but now something different.

As for the gun I know you can drop in a lone wolf barrel for both the 27 and the 33 to convert them either way. Is the only difference in the two models just the barrel? If there is more to it, how reliable would one of these models be after being converted with only a barrel swap?

If there is a difference in the extractors or something has anybody done a review to show which of the two is more reliable: The 27 converted to .357 sig or the 33 converted to .40 s&w?

I am wondering if I can just buy either model for the best used deal I can find or if I should be picking a specific one of the two.

Get the one in the caliber you want ...Conversion guns dont alwasy work unless you change out stuff like the ejecting system etc
Mags tend to be about the same

I've read where the mags are different in followers only.

Unless price is an issue. Spend the $150 (or more) that you would for a quality barrel
on a new or used GEN 4 G33.

The Gen 3 G33 that I had was a real shooter. It shot loads:
80, 115, 147, ect with great accuracy, as did the G31 and
G32 that we had at that time.

Now that we can find .357 SIG locally, I kind of miss it.

My new PPQ 9mm with the 77 grain Double Tap load.

Is trying
to get into .357 SIG territory.. but with a lighter bullet.

Caliber : 9mm

Bullet: 77gr DT Lead Free

Ballistics: 1600fps / 438ft./lbs. from a Glock 17
1435fps / 352ft./lbs. from a Glock 26
9mm 77gr. DT Lead Free 20rds

This load is very loud (at least to me) and has low recoil as well.

Although...No louder than any 9mm +P+ or .357 SIG I've ever shot.

Even though I've owned a few over the years.

I've never been a fan of the .40 S&W. At least not like 9mm, .45 and
also .357 SIG.

Good luck with getting a G33.

The barrel change to go from a 27 to a 33, or a 33 to a 27 is not a conversion barrel, it's just the barrel for the other caliber. You won't know if you need different mags until you test it and see your results, you may need different mags/followers or maybe not.

I'd simply call Glock tech support, and see what they say. Seems at one time the followers were different, but then they were changed.

Glock mags are reasonably priced, so I'd simply buy .40 and .357 Sig mags, and swap the barrels. Everything else should be the same (extractor, ejector) as both cartridges use a .40 case.

I am running a 23 with a 32 Sig barrel in it and have no problems running the Sig ammo in the 40 magazines. I do have both 357 and 40 mags and the followers appear to be identical except for the number stamped on it (357 vs 40). Ejector, etc. are the same for all corresponding 357 and 40 varieties.
