GA CCW - It's been more than 60 days!

I have a question for you guys. In about a week, it will have been 60 days since I gave up my prints and paid my application fees for my Georgia weapons permit. From what I've read everywhere, my state law stipulates that the permit shall be issued within 60 days. I was also told at my county probate court (Paulding County) that they have been taking 3-4 months to be issued.

So my question is, do you think I should go bug someone at the courthouse about it after the 60 day mark?

What do you guys think?

On the one hand, I'd like to put a bit of pressure on the folks to get the things issued within 60 days, like the law requires.

On the other hand, the last thing I want to do is piss off a bunch of the folks in the courthouse and sherriff's department by bugging them about it.

Polite and assertive inquiry seems legit' and useful. Try and find middle ground but does seem you need to chase it up somehow.

Hope you will not have much longer to wait - way too long as it is, even the 60 day mark.

I don't know about Paulding, but here in Walton, they get them out fairly quick. Call or go down to the probate court and ask. It could be that they are processing that many, or don't have enough people to process them.

But asking won't hurt. Good Luck !

Carroll County took forever!!!!!!! 90+ days or so IIRC. I remember calling and talking to someone in the probate court office and was FIRMLY told that the 60 days didn't matter, that I should read the fine print and that they weren't issuing them until they got the OK back from the Feds. I remember telling the lady that the law didn't have a fine print which only seemed to make her even more angry. She then replied that they didn't know if I was a bag guy or not and then said that they would come after me if I was. At this point it was getting nowhere so I said goodbye and waited like a kid for Christmas.

I don't think it would hurt to ask, but you might get the same kind of response that I did.

Troup county took forever also. My uncle in Heard Co. said the same thing.
My license took 4 months for it to find its way home.
