1:30 to 1:45ish works best for me. The butt of my pistol tucks best there, any further forward and sitting becomes a problem. When seated, it pushes the whole rig up and out. How many have had their soft belly skin pinched between the pistol and holster when reholstering? Ouch, got to be careful not to let that happen.

"What’s old is new again as many things are."

Just 33 years ago this month I took Mas Ayoob's 4-day LFI-1 class. Most of the time, Mas carried a full-size Beretta 92 in what appeared to be a Summer Special well forward of the hip bone, and it was easily concealed with an unzipped down vest.

many years back that thing you put in your pistol was called a clip. now people get all broken up if someone doesn't say magazine.
and originally a revolver was called a pistol. now it isn't.

i would like to know who gets to change these names.
The clip/magazine distinction at least applies to a real world fact: they are two entirely different types of mechanism. You're right that the pistol/revolver distinction is more made up. There is nothing in the root of the word pistol, or in its origins, to suggest that it should apply to semi-automatics rather than revolvers.

I imagine once upon a time people tired of saying semi automatic pistol and revolver pistol. They dropped the semi automatic from pistol and dropped pistol off the revolver.
We can call a revolver a pistol anytime we want to but just go ahead and call a revolver a semi automatic and stand back.

I thought forward of the hip went out of style with the mandated use of seat belts. It puts the gun right in the buckle area for a right-handed shooter. DR

Brings back some memories. That pic is from the first Concealed Carry magazine that I ever saw (bought). Was that the name of it? IDK. "The Ultimate Carry License" is concealment, as it said in the article, again, IIRC.

How's it work (for concealment) if you don’t have a gut protruding out the front?

Works great for me. I’d be more concerned about a protruding gut then a carry position or gun for that matter.
