Is rolling underwear over the IWB grip a thing?

I just took my first walkabout in Virginia with my brand-spanking-new CCW and it was much easier than I thought it would be, but I am highly concealed with a Glock 26 deep in a Tommy Theis horsehide IWB. I liked it. I will still make a trip to Wally World as a right of passage but I did go solo today, remembering not to carry into the USPS building.

Also, I ended up feeling too obvious and what I did was roll my black boxer-briefs over the top of the handle to cover the grip. Does anyone else use underwear to disguise their pistol or am I the only one?

Is that a thing or am I a freak? Also, I surely know that having one's "Eddie Bauer" waist band barring access to a quick draw isn't ideal, I feel like I am less likely to reveal myself if my shirt were to ride up as I get used to the Very Thick-while-still-being-small-Glock 26.

I can't wait until I just get used to it.

Wedgie Carry - not a trend.

I would not cover the top of the grip. Try adding another shirt layer if printing is an issue. IMO, you are too conscious since carry is new to you. Most people are blind and unaware.

You could carry a couple of Italians, half of their kin, and a pizza oven on your belt under your shirt, and no one sees squat. Hang in there. It gets easier, and at some point, you stop caring. Concealed means concealed.

OP, if you are, in fact, carrying/concealing "deep" as you say...don't worry, be happy. :yup:

And about your WW trip, it's best that you go there when you have something to purchase. Trolling around (with a loaded gun) may appear suspicious and draw the attention of the security cameras and lost prevention folks.

I will go shopping for groceries, than. I am in need of groceries.

Well, I will surely make a pilgrimage to Wally World this weekend and follow your good advice of reaching up, stooping down (using the knees), and so on and so forth -- without picking at my clothes, and all of that -- I have been trying to read closely.

Uh.....no, I believe you are the ONLY person doing this. You are for sure the only person I have ever even heard of doing this.

I'm still trying to envision how you did this let alone why/

I carry my CW9 in one of Tommy's holsters every day and I have never been uncomfortable with it on. Is it rubbing your bare skin? If this is the case, I suggest you get some of the "wifebeater" type under shirts and wear one under your outer shirt. I do this in the summer time. Under shirt tucked into pants with holster between pants and under shirt, with a T-shirt over that. No problems at all. I would never put my undies over the grip of my gun. I would think that would make it near impossible to actually draw the gun if it was needed....

"Elsewhere in the news, an Arlington man was threatened by a would-be mugger this afternoon - the mugger is still being sought, having fled the scene after his intended victim inexplicably 'wedgied' himself into a stupor during the attack. Michael Moore has made a statement condemning Eddie Bauer. And now this..."

Dooga;
I don't think you have to worry about being busted for printing...an arrest for "felony sloppy" is another issue.:danceban:

Most new concealed carriers feel like everyone sees the gun...they don't unless the outline is so clear that the shape is unmistakeable.
Just wear the gun.

Do I sense a new addition to the line of Tacticool clothing? Tactical Briefs/boxers with quick release band. Thumb break boxers? We'll need a slogan. "For the Banger in You!"???????

See this is the problem I had with this method of concealment is the only way I see it being possible is if your letting your BVD's stick WAY to much out of your pants. If your going to dress like a hood you might want to NOT carry since the police are likely to give you a very close scrutiny and then they will see the bulge of your gun. Sounds like a good way to get a face plant.

I'm not trying to take a cheap shots at LEO here, just saying look like a hood, get treated like a hood.

I actually wear Perry suspenders under my cover shirt to prevent the weight of my glock 27 from pulling my pants down and revealing my tighty whiteys. If your waiste band is showing you may want to consider a pair of suspenders. On another note there are several threads that mention using the waiste band of the underwear to cover the grip when going to the bathroom in a public restroom. I do this myself.

Congrats on the new CHL, take a few deep breaths and relax. I understand how highly stressful it can be when you start carrying concealed but the public at large is completely oblivious as to what you have on your belt. If you are printing even badly most likely the only ones who are even going to notice are other CHL holders or LEO's, everyone else will suspect it to be a cell phone or something similar. Worst case is someone actually catches a glimpse of your gun while I don't know of any local ordinances that may effect you but it is legal to open carry VA so if they don't see it you are legally concealed carrying if they do you are legally open carrying. If I remember correctly it took about 1-2 weeks for me to relax and not have to keep telling myself to leave my cover garment alone. Now, I don't even give it a second thought. I personally carry a full size XDm in a Crossbreed Supertuck, other than buying my pants a little looser in the waist, I don't dress any different than I did before I carried. As far as I know no one has noticed in the 7 years that I have been carrying.

As for the underwear thing, although funny, it sounds to me like it would pose too great of a risk for a ND by getting your clothing bunched up around gun and holster, I would not advise you to continue this method of concealment.
