Ugh my NordVPN all of a sudden decided it doesn't want to play with the forum anymore. Won't load unless I disable it anyone else having issues???

My DuckDuckGo VPN handles DC OK. If I click on my VPN icon up in the right hand corner of my browser, it gives me the option of excluding DefensiveCarry from VPN. Up until now, I've had no problems with this forum. There are, however many sites that refuse to connect with my VPN turned on. I probably don't need to visit such sites, anyway.

There are more and more sites it seems that are denying people entry if they are using a VPN.

It is as if the internet abhors privacy.

We are told that Internet Security is on us yet when we try and maintain the most secure and anonymous internet browsing, we are denied.

It is ridiculous.

Had the Nord VPN on a couple of machines. Would regularly cause BSOD failures and reboots. Wouldn't play well with some websites. Disabling it, the machines ran fine and websites ran fine (multiple browsers). Ditched it and few years ago. And despite having had the auto-renewal=OFF, on my account, they charged my card again anyway. They subsequently reversed it, after a bit of haranguing, but I have to wonder whether they'll ever hit the card against, in future, using the same 'excuse' to do so from last time. Not a lot of trust in the Nord VPN product, here, nor with their lax approach to billing.

The hospital I go to when I have to get an X-ray or MRI strangely doesn't have cell phone service, even though if you step one foot outside the building, the cell service is fine. They offer a "guest" WiFi service, but you can't use a VPN on it and it blocks DC also.

While my Eset VPN has no difficulty with DC, a Nevada-based shooter's forum won't load unless I disable the VPN first. It's a minor hassle as I don't frequent that forum site very often.

I tend to avoid using wifi other than at home. Even though your connection is likely using TLS (SSL) encryption, this is easily and commonly defeated at the wifi server with what is essentially a man-in-the-middle attack. The server is configured to block access to the various well-known VPN services to prevent defeating their monitoring.

I use Express VPN and it always lets me connect to Defensive Carry. Many times if I try to login to my banking site or a site where I have to pay a bill, etc. I have to turn it off.

Actually, it's some websites that don't like VPNs. I'm currently using NordVPN but I plan to switch to someone else at renewal time. Anyway, I had issues with DC yesterday but today I connect via VPN with no problem. There are some websites where I have to create a rule to connect outside of the VPN tunnel. That's not easy to do when using the NordVPN app. My bank recently shut down access via VPN and I argued with them about it but it did no good. So, I can no longer do banking on public wifi hotspots - only on cell data. It also causes a problem when traveling internationally since I don't normally buy cell data outside of the country.

Two thumbs up for Proton VPN. It's fast, the software seems very reliable.

Other than a minor issue. I do get freeze-ups after about 20 minutes on the thing, something I believe is tied to their session handling mechanisms. Doesn't seem to matter which browser is used during the session, either, as all browsers connected will slow down to a crawl (for a little while) at this point. Disconnect from the VPN server, reconnect to another VPN server, and everything starts flowing well again, without need to close and restart the browser(s). A little error in the software, but easily gotten around; something I suspect they will fix sometime soon.
