The original rubber grips on my S&W 642 Airweight .39 Special were worn out and lately were held together with electrical tape.

One of my home protection guns, it’s kept loaded and sits on the counter in a Galco horsehide leather holster.

Finally got around to ordering a set of VZ Grips replacement grips. I went with Black Cherry.

The grips are well made, fit well with no modifications necessary.

Thought I’d share a couple photos if anyone was ever in the market for replacement grips and were looking for quality options.

I love the looks of those grips, but unfortunately for me, hard grips are a no-go on the Airweight. The web between my thumb and trigger finger takes a beating during extended practice sessions, so it’s rubber for me.

But those are very nice looking grips on that shooter.

I have a set of the VZ‘s on a 1911 that I’m happy with

On a snappy revolver like my wifes 360J shooting regular 357mag loads attempting to see how well the revolver and the purdy wood grips worked ended quickly for my wife and me making me gladeI shoot larger heavier handguns over an airweight 357mag . MY wife stated those grips s*** !! I ordered a Hogue rubberized Mono grip for her snubby . This is not a pocket carry as she has a iwb hybrid for it if even needed . My wife has shot her DW 15-2 357mag for fun since 1980 with a hogue rubberized grip and likes them and the Mono rubberized grip offers a good 4 finger grip with an enclosed back strap for far better control while firing and not wearing on the web of our hand .

Hogue monogrips on my 360 AirWeight too. What a difference it made in shooting anything in the little gun.

I carry 125 gr Golden Saber and shoot handloads to match velocity for target practice.

I typically run Altamont magna-style checkered panels on my newer .22 or .38 non- magnum J-frames that came stock with rubber grips.
