ATF knocks at your door and says that they noticed you have made several firearm purchases in the past week and would like to see your weapons.

What would you do and what would be your plan of action?

^^^^^ As a former FFL and holder of some NFA guns....I'd say.. "Hold on a few miniutes, I'm making a call to the Police to make sure you are who you state you are". Then a call to my Attorney to lef him know what's occuring.

No entry unless they have a search warrant. If not, I would politely ask them to get their arses off my property.

I wouldn't invite them in even if it was during a polar vortex like we had last week. I would be polite but they're not coming in unless they have a warrant.

Smile nice and friendly.....

Ask for ID.....

Pull out my cell phone and ask them to smile nicely for the camera......

tell them (nicely of course) to come back with a Warrant.......

If they ask politely, I'd probably let them see the guns. There's no harm in their asking.

If they go all JBT, they can come back with a warrant, and I'll record their actions with the camcorder.

I'd like to say that I've dealt with the ATF a number of times over the last 30 or so years, and in each and every encounter, they have been polite and professional. That includes when I sent photos of a demilled Vietnam bring-back AK to the Technical Branch, who ruled that it was an "illegal machine gun" even though every moving part had been welded up. In that case, the examiner commiserated with me over the phone, and when I asked what kind of proof they'd need to show that the receiver had been destroyed according to current rules, he said they'd take my word for it.

While few people like the ATF, their courtesy over time has bought them considerable slack with me.

Danger danger Will Robinson. This is the absolute wrong thing to do. Do not let them in, do not show them any guns.

By saying no you are not being a jerk, you are merely standing up for your rights as a citizen by not submitting to a warrant-less search.

ATF would never knock, they'd just smash your door in and hand you some phony mumbo jumbo and do what they want...
..Like they did at Waco and Ruby Ridge. We saw how that worked out.

I'm a wise guy.

ME: "What weapons in specific are you talking about"?

THEM: "Oh, this one that one this one that one this one and that one"

ME: "Why do you need to see them, if you know what weapons they are, can't you just get a picture of them and see for yourself what they look like"?

ME: "Hey what are you doing, Ow the floor hurts,, hey you're hurting my wrists, not so tight, hey watch my head on the roof of the squad car, where are we going"?

Well most here know how I feel about F Troop.

Since I haven't made any recent gun purchases it's obvious F Troop is wrong wrong wrong.

As nicely as possible I would tell them they can fornicate themselves.

I'd laugh and tell them they got the wrong guy. I'd tell them I voted for Barry Obammy, I smoke pot and that I enjoy Rosie O'donnell movies. They would know right then that I wasn't the enemy and would just leave me alone.

I'd invite them in, voluntarily allow them to search my property, submit to a cavity search, and thank them for all their hard work keeping Americans safe.

I blame all spelling errors on auto-correct, global warming, and Tapatalk

Why would they do that? I may be naive, but if you are buying guns lawfully, what's the big deal. Whether its for your home defense, CC, or sport you don't have anything to hide and what can they do? Im new to this so maybe someone can enlighten me. Being a law abiding citizen, I would see no harm in letting them in to see my collection (after receiving proper credentials to know they are not the BG). Am I wrong?

Yes you are wrong. They are not there to be your friends. They are looking to find something illegal and to put you behind bars. The ATF has a history of prosecuting "questionable" violations and you don't want to be the next example.

if they kicked in my door, i'd be yes sir and no sir, i don't want to impede your investigation but i would like to remina silent until my lawyer, also may i record this? all as polite as i could(assuming conversation would begin AFTER they picked me and my family off the floor in handcuffs) i would NOT resist a commando team kicking in my door, doubt i could if i wanted too, sounds like a good way to get dead. if their a "fake" swat commando team, chances are your going to "lose" anyway, and you won't have a chance to "verify" them. but really, how often does a trained group of commandos, that are criminals, attack a pedestrian family? not saying it couldn't happen, just not very high on the list of possibles i'm worried about.

if they knocked nicely, i'd instruct my wife to contact dispatch and verify them, i'd step outside with them and close my door. i'd ask to see a badge. why do you want to come in? do you have a warrant? may i record this? all as politely as i could.

I'd probably tell them something like...

"I'm sorry... We're not available right now, but your visit is very important to us. Please stay on the porch and the door will be answered by the next available family member."

I would speak to them through my Bolted Steel door and ask for the Warrant. No Warrant...No Entry. And as I do that I`m on the phone with 911. Maybe I should take Joe Biden`s advice and fire a few Shotgun Blasts through the door?. I`m sure that`l be a Big Hit as I`m just taking Vice-Presidential Advice. I don`t do "BAAA" very well.
