Avoid the Diamondback DB-15

I picked up a Diamondback DB-15 FDE in December right before it got really insane. A couple weeks later I received a set of Troy Battle Sights. The rear sight went on without a hitch, but mounting the front sight I noticed something was off ...

It was obvious that the front Picatinny rail wasn't machined right, but I wanted to at least shoot my new gun. I ran a few rounds through it, and had to crank the rear sight way over to the right to zero it.

So at this point I contacted their customer service dept. I sent them pictures, they sent a shipping label. I thought, "great, they'll just screw on a new hand guard and I'll be good." Two weeks later, after hearing nothing from them, after trying to contact them to at least verify they received it, my AR-15 is delivered via UPS, no signature required, dropped off on my door step. I'm glad nobody wondered what that gun shaped box on my door step was.

I was still optimistic, but that faded the minute I tried to align the front sight. It would appear that the only change they made was to take out the chamber clear indicator I sent with the gun and throw it away. The front rail is still completely off. Guess I'll go ahead and sell it to someone who doesn't use iron sights and hope I can get my hands on a Colt before anything gets banned.

TL/DR: The front Picatinny rail on my Diamondback DB-15 FDE is machined incorrectly and therefore it's impossible to mount the front sight properly. Mailed it to them, got it back 2 weeks later exactly the same.

You could try to get a different forend installed on the rifle. I'm no expert on the issue but it could just be the forend that is machined incorrectly. Hopefully the picatinny rail on the upper receiver is machined correctly. Maybe some of the more experienced members on the form (with regard to rifles) will have a better recommendation.

I would avoid all diamondback products.... I looked at their DB9 and everyone had the same problem.... pins working out when shooting. I generally try to avoid having a gun fall apart in my hands while firing it. They just dont have the quality to make their product worth my money. YMMV.....

I bought a the DB380 when they first hit the market, big mistake, worthless gun and a worthless customer service. Nuff said.

That looks like a Troy TRX rail. Give Troy a call and/or email them a few pictures. In my experience, their customer service has been great. They may want you to send it out again if you don't have the tools to replace the rail yourself; Troy rails are not exactly "user replaceable" for most people.

Dont know when that was made but I am pretty sure they dont make them anymore.... and we are referring to the semi auto garbage they produce today. Read any review and it probably wont be a good one. YMMV

Glad I found this

We recently starting carrying them...and I have never heard of DB...for what I can tell by most of the "Actual" reviews...
being non paid...Most people are not happy with the quality...I myself only deal with ArmaLite and CMMG...at present...
Now I know what to tell people asking about them...
I am a Fare Salesmen...but I can say I "Would Not Buy One"....
Rather buy a DelTon....
I agree You should not have to deal with Issues like this and they should fix them PDQ.
In the years I have been in the Industry...I have learned that Customer Service is the Utmost Statement of a Company...

To verify if the rail is messed up, try mounting the sight on another section like the side or bottom, or try a different picatinny mounted accessory. I would bet my money that those piece of junk Troy sights are machined wrong. My Diamondback has been flawless and the end of my rail looks exactly like yours. I have had zero issues with the guns fit or function. That front sight does not look like it is machined symmetrically. Honestly, sell or return those sights and pick up some Diamondheads and be done with it. I honestly do not think you would ever buy any other brand of sight again. Just my 2 cents.

Right, because I've noticed Troy industries making so many other lousy products too. They have such a poor reputation.

Let's not forget who really has a lousy reputation, it's Diamondback. DB9 anyone?

IANAL - do you have an NFA? Not sure of the legality of that buttstock looking thing on your "Pistol". IIRC that makes it a SBR.

Only if the AR that I bought or built is a Colt, BCM, DD, Larue, and yours is a Bushmaster, Windham, Delton, RR, or Bob's AR.

I think you already have a whole thread full of input. Diamondback = buyer beware.

You can buy a PSA for $605 DELIVERED if you wait for a sale (like fathers day weekend). Heck, right now you can get BCM upper here for peanuts.

BCM Standard 14.5" M4 SOCOM Upper Receiver Group

Add in a PSA lower for $159,

charging handle and a BCG. Popow!

Also a whole AR can be had from PSA for $605 this weekend.

You would think , but an airboat can be built with out cnc machines and tight tolerance's a firearm needs to function reliably . There handguns have been a real problems for many folks . Not saying a quality airboat is not something everyone can build to there level but a good ole boy with some mig and tig skills can build a good common sense functional fine airboat at home . Not fancy but functional . I built 2 in my younger years in south west florida .

Airboats in my time looked more like this - Or an open version with slightly higher sides.

I bought a Diamback several years back and was so impressed with it and it's accuracy, I bought another one. Then when I wanted an AR in 300 Blackout, I had my gunshop order me a Diamondback in 300 Blackout. All three have been the most accurate out of the box ARs I have shot. I have yet to have the first problem with any of them. I shoot 8,000+ rounds a year - not all in Diamondbacks.

Even as we speak, I have Diamondback lowers as some of my builds and have Geissele triggers in them - they work - not a single failure since I've had them.
